These threads crack me up... as though nurses have a monopoly on stress or that nursing is somehow harder than other jobs.

Simply laughable...

I think it’s an interesting clip, especially when they address the complaint of not having the “authority to do their job” and “ancillary jobs.” It’s the same complaint that providers have with the addition of more boxes to check, papers to sign, and other distractions from patient care. Prior to getting my NP, I was an RN for over 20 years and in that time patient care has lessened significantly as paperwork has increased exponentially. There are MD’s I know who literally count the clicks to escribe an Rx because over the past couple of years the process has changed from simply writing it out to over 100 clicks on a mouse for a Z-pack.

That's such a shame because EMR has the potential to make things so much easier.

The huge item that has been neglected in EMR development is *usability*

Easiest job I have ever had. So many people have never worked hard, and got paid so little.

Nursing is decent pay, and not too difficult….but I guess that it relative to each person.

I think most people in general are stressed out. I am stressed due to the fact that I am in a full time DNP program, working full time, and engaged and getting married in April. We all are stressed and we all have life to deal with, and nursing is a stressful job; however, it is a lot better than what some others do for work and where else can you work 3 days and have 4 off. I love my schedule and will hate working 5 days a week once I am done with my DNP program.
