Moving to Maine

Hi,

I was hoping you might be able to give me some information and advice. Right now we live in the Hudson Valley. My husband grew up here, I am from Ireland and have been here 10 years.
Our son is 2 and has Hypoplastic Left Heart. I enrolled in nursing classes after his 2nd stage surgery and am 1 class away from finishing my pre reqs for the nursing classes at our local community college. Our son will need a heart transplant sometime in the future (hopefully a long way off but you never know). So when this time comes we will need to be a couple of hours away from Boston Childrens Hospital.

We would rather move and be settled than have to move in a rush when things get bad. We think Maine may be a good place to live, so I was hoping you could help me out.

If I don't finish my nursing classes here, what schools would you recommend in Maine?
How is it work wise/expenses/etc?
We have 3 children aged 8, 6 and 2 - what areas would you recommend?

Thank you all for any help and advice!

Ann Marie

The schools that I know of up here all have waiting lists that are a year or two long, but you can give it a try. Here is a link that I found helpful http://www.nursingschools.com/states...-programs.html
Good luck

The Portland area is great approx 2 hours to Boston or less. University of SOuthern Maine has a nursing program. It is a great area to raise a family.

Hello,

We are contemplating moving too Maine from California, is housing affordable there, in the edge of town/country area? It appears to be such a beautiful state. I'm from Michigan, so the cold does not bother me, I like it.
I just want to finish school here in Cali, before we make up my mind.

Best,
The Witch Doctor.
