Job prospects in Maine?

by kacz

I've been thinking of going back to school to get my BSN. However, I was recently talking with a nurse who said that it is really difficult to get a nursing job in Maine right now. Does anyone have any thoughts on that??
I'm going to try to get in the USM accelerated BSN program.
What does a new nursing grad typically start at for a wage?

Hi,
I am a 12/08 USM grad. Jobs in Maine are hard to come by right now - I applied at every facility between Bangor and Boston after I took NCLEX and I got 4 interviews. Good luck.

To answer your question about pay. I worked at a smaller community hospital and got 22.22 base pay. Maine Med and Mercy average that or a little lower.
