I live on the NH side of the NH/Maine border, Somersworth/Dover/Berwick(s) area. It's a lovely area, albeit expensive. You can definitely get more house for your money on the Maine side. Property taxes are more in NH, but we don't pay a state income tax. Unless your stupid like me, living in NH and working in Maine, lol! I get hit with both

Anyway, I graduated in 2003 and started as a new grad at Wentworth-Douglass in Dover NH. They have a really good GN program in place, and pretty much all the floors take new grads, including the ED and L&D. They definitely prefer to hire from within though, and take people who have worked there as LNAs, etc during school first. Portsmouth & Exeter both took new grads and offer decent orientation (from what I hear). I don't know about York Hospital, although I do remember applying there as a soon-to-be new grad, so they probably do too. Feel free to reply here or PM me if there's anything else I might be able to answer... hopefully they'll be someone in this thread who can help you a little more though!

Pale sarah-
I grew up in Dover and graduated from Dover High before moving to FL. I know exactly where you are, what it's like and that is why I want to move back home to be honest with you. I think it is the best place to raise a child and now that I have one of those too....it's time. I'm just waiting on getting into nursing school now so we can finalize those plans. Wow Wentworth Douglas will put you in L&D as a new grad. I work for a Children's Hospital now but either want L&D or a children's hospital to work at. If you dont' mind me asking (and you can PM me if you want to keep it private) what does Wentworth Douglas pay new grads? I hope to hear from you soon...keep cool up there, heard there was a heat wave.
