Do you think the staff to resident ratio (including cna's) is FAIR?
Why
or
Why not?

1. You failed to state what the ratio is.
2. No one ever said life is fair.

My nurses have 20 residents each. They do meds, treatments, and charting and THEY complain they have too much work.
The CNAs have 8 residents each. Some require minimal assist. Evening shift they each have 10. Is it fair? yes.

LTC where I work you can have 60 residents with a med aid and 4 CNA's on 2-10 shift. It is a 119 bed facility and there are supposed to be three nurses but if someone calls in or they can't find coverage one nurse takes 100-200 halls with 60 beds and the other takes 300-400 halls with 59 beds. There are always a few empty beds usually on 300-400 hall. There are medicare beds on all halls for you have that charting. There are g-tubes, IV's, lots of breathing treatments, insulin, etc. This happens on average once or twice a week. Management claims they just can't find anyone to work!

Did you read the article that says the top two causes on medical errors are short staffing and sleep depravation.
