I have a brother and sister who want to share a room (ick). As far as I know, incest is still against the law.Any opinions?
I actually think a gay couple would have a much easier time getting the same room in LTC than a heterosexual couple. What possible objection could any facility raise about two gay people? They are same-sex by definition.

As for putting the "Flowers in the Attic" siblings in the same room.... I agree, that's just gross. I'm very liberal, but, no. Sorry, too gross. If there's really a sexual element to their relationship, they need to be in separate rooms.

But even elderly people have sex. Is there a law against having sex in LTC?

    Yes, if they're siblings.

Not sure why you think that siblings sharing a room=automatic incest happening. Do they have a history of having sex with each other?

Also, gay people are attracted to people of the same sex. So...how is this related to two people of the opposite sex sharing a room?

It's not a nurse's place to judge. Go through your policy book, ask your supervisor. But keep an open heart. I don't understand why you think two siblings who happen to be members of the opposite sex sharing a room is "ick." I think you need to ask yourself why you feel this way.

She explained that the siblings in question exchanged an explicitly non-platonic kiss.

Yikes!!! Why would you assume incest?! Talk about jumping to conclusions.

A kiss is VERY different from true incest involving intercourse.

I will agree that a kiss between a brother and a sister does not necessarily = incest. BUT the OP made it clear this wasn't that type of kiss. We all know where the line is, French kissing, open mouth, what ever. That kind of kiss between siblings is incestuous and inappropriate. I trust that she (the OP) can tell the difference.

I must have no clue as to what most of you are talking of. I do not understand why a bro and sis in their very old years should not share a room. Their are siblings for gosh shakes. Being that I have not worked in a long term facility, maybe I am missing something. Remember these elders are living there because they are unable to care for them selves fully. As long as they have privacy dressing, etc. I see no problem.

Did you miss the part where she explained they exchange romantic/sexual kisses?
