I work at a personal care home as a ADON. My DON is on vacation for 2 weeks. So far I had 2 aids give notice. Have a cold starting in one of our buildings. The day before she left on vacation I left her a message about one of the aids leaving she told me not to contact her at all. I left a message to the general manager about the cold that is starting and she has not called me back. I don't make alot of money I work at least 45 hrs/week. Does this happen with anyone else?

We've all felt alone. I was an ADON at one place for less than a week when the DON went out on leave. You just do the best you can. I'm not quite sure what you mean about 'the cold' starting. Is it the weather or the common cold?

After I started at my current facility, both the other nurse managers left for better paying jobs. One in April, one last week. We have no replacements for them until the end of July at the earliest when a new hire from a neighboring facility comes on board. We hired a new RN right out of school and the DON has placed her as a "daytime supervisor" for now- we didn't have one previously- with hopes that she wants one of the units. I feel a new grad has no place in management, and that's not a good thing to do to her or the facility. I feel like I am either the plague that caused the other two to leave- or that the SNF was in turmoil before I got there. But, yes, I feel very much alone. I cannot take any summer vacation in July like I had planned, because the new RN received her days off for an entire week this month. (I was told she had it planned already- so they had to give it to her). I have a job interview today for a very respectable SNF that always has good survey results and is a Three star facility. I'm currently at a one star. I heard they don't pay as well, but I've got my fingers crossed. It for a unserviceable coordinator/ CNA instructor. Sounds better than managing. Good luck to you.
