Where is the best place to study? Home/Library

Does this happen to any one else but me? I can study for hours @ the library but it is sooooooooo hard for me to study @ home. Their are no little children. We live in a very quite neighborhood. I think it is always something that I could be doing when i'm @ home. Some times I plan my day including study time if I don't go to the library it just doesn't happen. Any suggestions?:banghead:

I did this orientation course that talked about studying and achieving "flow". the articles I read all said that unless you make a place at home specifically for studying withought any interruptions, it's impossible to get flow going. Flow is defined as the period of time when you are completey focused on what your doing. when the thing in front of you has your attention so well that you become oblivious to everything around you.

I totally prefer the library. and not only that, but those sound proof rooms with your back to the glass window. that's when I can really concentrate. I am VERY easily distracted and when home, there are waaayyyyy too many interruptions. its amazing isn't it? you can tell your husband and teenaged children, " I'm going in my bedroom to study, don't bother me." and not 10 minutes later, someone needs to know where a sock is or can I sign something or whatever.... I'll go to the library all day if I have too.

I kinda like starbucks too, but only if I don't have heavy duty studying to do. If I'm just reviewing okay. you can get distracted by other's conversations there. the tables are so close.

Thank you I understand.

I prefer home only because I go into a room where there is no television, get comfortable and take the phones off. It MUST be quiet and it usually is!

I had the same issue when I was in school. I didn't use the main library but rather I small sitting area down a little used hall in one of the science buildings. I could study there for hours and not get sleepy or board. Maybe that is why I couldn't study at home- there was always a bed and TV or chores to do. At the college the only thing to do was study. Short walk to the health science library for resources, short walk to the student commons for food, and always someone around from my class +/- a year to help out if I had questions. (My cat was little help with A&P- even though we were dissecting one of her cousins) My advise- go with what works. If you study better in the public bathroom at the bus station- go there. Why make studying more difficult than it needs to be. My GPA would have been much higher if I had discovered my "study sweet spot" in my freshman year rather than my junior year.

I think I'll just stick with the library because that's whats working. Thanks again
