Valencia vs. Seminole State

Students LPN-RN

Published

Hello everyone,

I am graduating from my LPN program in March and wanted to hear different opinions on both Valencia and Seminole State's LPN to RN programs. Valencia is closer to me but I don't mind making a trip if I have too. I am also a single mom so I have to work full time while in school. Any advice would be great. Thanks!

By the way. Everything I have heard mainly about Seminole state was hearsay. The website changed over the years so I was unable to get enough details on there.

Just so your aware. I'm actually in the last semester of the LPN to RN program at Seminole. Unfortunately, we were the last class accepted for the transition program since they have discontinued it. So Its either the generic program or concurrent BSN program. I did the Valencia program for a few weeks and had to drop out due to family crisis, but when comparing the 2 programs, hands down, Im glad I did Seminoles. Valencia was top heavy with a LOT of busy work and instructors are kind of hardcore. Seminole is a little more forgiving since they understand you have jobs and families and I love most of the professors there. So far a great experience. They want to see you graduate. Good luck with your future endeavors.

I'm in semester two of Valencia's AVS track (there are 3 semesters). The first semester was the worst because everything was such a shock to the system. I had never experienced such an intense program and I was always a straight A student. I find this semester to be much "easier" and I'm happy being in this program. This local hospitals put Valencia graduates at the top of their hiring lists so all this hard work will be worth it. Good luck!

Thank you both for your comments. I am thinking of other options besides Valencia. Considering that Seminole no longer does the LPN to RN I'll have to take it off of my list.

@Nathifalr26 if you don't mind me asking what other school re you looking it? I live next door to Valencia and I wanted to try to get it but I didn't have any other backups except Polk State in winter garden.

At the time I was looking at Polk State myself and at one point I was thinking of Excelsior College. Polk is pretty far for me to drive and the schedule won't work for my job right now. As far as the schedule for Excelsior seems great but I keep hearing mixed reviews and didn't feel 100% about it. All three of my PN instructors stressed how great Valencia is so I'm going to stick it out. I am taking my last pre-req for Valencia starting tomorrow and will begin studying for the TEAS. Hopefully, things will work itself out from there.
