Lvn to bsn frustration!

Nursing Students LPN-RN

Published

Hi all,

I am new to the website, have never posted before. I am a current Southern California Active LVN working full time in Newport Beach, CA. I reside in the Torrance Ca area. I have been trying to find a way to get my RN, it seems impossible and is frustrating and borderline depressing. Any helpful hints on schools; I work full time and would need to go during the evening, weekend or online. Any Indiana State University updates would be awesome as well. It seems to me that is the best way to go and I have been patiently waiting for it to open to southern CA residents. Any tips would be amazing, I am so frustrated. I have always wanted to be a nurse and this is making me re-think everything.

I don't know if you a) want to make the drive or b) if they will do a second class or beyond BUT I am currently in a pilot LVN to BSN class at Cal State San Bernadino.

Hello! I live in Rancho Cucamonga , CA. How can I find out about the LVN to BSN at Cal State San Bernadino. Please :)

Specializes in ER, Trauma, Med-Surg/Tele, LTC.

I know Azusa Pacific's LVN to BSN program is designed for working nurses and they have multiple campuses. Maybe you can call them to ask for specifics concerning how scheduling works.

Getting my lvn has got to be the worst mistake i've ever made. It's like a trap!!! To put this into perspective...most schools take up to 60 generic entry RN students that have no nursing background or history, but yet take only 10 LVN to RN applicants. So basically, your're S.O.L. most of the time because those 10 spots are SOOOOOO competitive. I went to school for LVN thinking that it would give me the experience and education that would make it EASIER to obtain my RN later. That is soooooo far from the truth...actually its a damn nightmare trying to get from LVN to RN.

Who makes these calls? Who allots such small number of spaces for lvn to rn applicants? BVNPT? BRN? Think about it...there are 240 generic entry RN students accepted annually at our local kaplan college, BUT only 40 LVN to RN applicant slots for the year?

Im actually considering applying for the generic entry RN program at any college at this point. I am beyond livid when I think about how difficult the boards have made it for those that have become LVNs in California. Something has to be done...
