LPN to RN to BSN

Well I am an LPN in Kansas and after I finished it I continued to get prereq classes for college knocked out. Our school don't accept credit from LPN courses so all the gen ed courses are still expected. That is what takes the most time. After those classes it has taken me 2 years to get my BSN, well I am specking a bit prematurely b/c I will grad in May 09. Yea!

Why not just go str8 into LPN.... By the time you finish the tech position, you will only have 1 quarter left to complete the LPN. And I think most states offer a 12 month LPN program, so I would try and find one of those.. Then work as an LPN while getting pre-reqs for RN which should take about a year, then you can bridge to your RN which should only take another year or two depending on if you want a ASN or BSN.....

I am going to start fall quarter at Augusta Tech but will be placed in Healthcare assistant which is required to get into LPN.You get to choose a specialization in which once you have it you may work while going to LPN school. I will have my LPN first and then go back for my RN would like to get my BSN.But I my start out by getting my ASN. Was wanting to know how long after having LPN it would take me. Or if the bridge program would be faster. Thanks for your help.

I started the RN right away. I attend a community college, and did my RN pre-reqs the year before I did my LPN. I applied to the RN program and the LPN program. I was accepted to both, but did the LPN first, and RN started last week.

The downside, I'm doing a regular RN program, not the bridge. I just didn't want to risk a wait list for the bridge, as I have to have passed the NCLEX by the time I could even apply.

Check out your options at your school. There's more than one way to get there in nursing!

Thank you I have found out that after I get my LPN Sanderville Tech is offering the bridge program.So I think I am going to try that.We live in a small community so the wait may not be long.When I get more info on how it works I will post it. And good luck on starting RN school we need ya.Thank you again.

If I were you, I'd begin taking the necessary classes (such as a&p, micro, math, etc.) and instead of getting in the lpn program, try for the rn (adn) program augusta tech claims to be starting next year!
