I am trying to decide whether Excelsior College is the path I should take. I am hoping someone can help me! :smilecoffeecup:

There are numerous threads regarding your question in this forum and others (especially the Distance Learning forum). As a matter of fact, often you can find heated debates about it. Suggest you look around in the archives or do a search to read several of these threads. Good luck on your decision.

Hey I and 5 others just did our Excelsior clinicals two weekends ago. all the nursing classes were challenging, but NOTHING was really new if you have a broad background et lots of personal grit to get it done, it's exspensive, but way less than a sit in class program, and not nearly as miserable as writing stupid papers for topics I don't care about. I know traditional programs are great, but if you have to work too, think about it hard. J

I'm doing it....LOVE it. If you're going to do it get to it, the requirements change as of Oct 1. As stated before....PLENTY of info in the distance learning thread

I graduated in 1999 from Regents now known as Excelsior. I thought the program was awesome. I didn't think it was expensive. I used the free study guides printed off from their site and purchased the suggested textbook from half.com. I always purchased the prior number edition textbook as it was alot cheaper and the info was the same. Good Luck!

Go For It!!! The Information In The Study Guides Will Not Be New To You. It Seems Like It Takes Our Lpn Studies And Cranks It Up A Notch. If You Memorize And Really Know The Steps Of The Nursing Process And Maslow' Hierarchy You Will Be Able To Apply The Text Info To The Tests. I Just Started Excelsior, Graduated Lpn June O6 So Lots Of The Info Is Still Really Fresh. Organize Your Study Area, Set Aside The Time Just As If You Were Commuting To Class And Do It. Good Luck To You.

i am going to do it just trying to get the money together for the enrollment fee and even the 75 for the application process is hard. i will get it done before the new rules take effect and hope to knock out these concepts quickly..

The requirements for graduation change (more classes). The entrance requirements stay the same. There's info on the website.

I am a little curious about this, it seems too easy and maybe a big scam, should I go for it and if so, how do you know which books to purchase for sure? I have ordered only 1 book so far for a Micro class and I am not sure what others I need. Also, do I just study the material and take only 1 exam the entire time, or how does this work.
