LPN to RN Bridge in August 2010

Students LPN-RN

Published

Okay so i got in i just paid my first tuition a few weeks ago and got my books ordered yesterday. I tell ya the last few weeks my guts have been in knots. I really wanna do this and learn all i can, make good grades, do well in clinical's and pass the boards when it is my time.

I guess this is all normal to be nervous? I usually am a good student. In my pre-reqs i did well. But i am a quite a bit older then when i went to LPN school. That worries me a bit, i am not ready for social security by any means don't take that wrong. Just not a young 20something anymore. Back in LPN school i was younger and worried about things a lot less.

Anybody else getting ready to start as well?

While i am at it are there any folks here who would mind questions being asked of them down the road when i am in school if i don't understand something? I am a poor student and any help with something tough would be greatly appreciated.

I hope this time next i am starting as an RN! I also hope i get as much knowledge in my head as possible and can do it to the best of my abilities. I realize i will be new if all goes well and still have a ton to learn. :nurse:

You mean to tell me no one else here is in the same shoes as me? Or that no one else can relate or answer questions if i run into difficulty? Wow, just wow. I thought this would be the place to voice things and whatnot. Oh well.

Hello!;)

I started an LPN/BSN program this summer and realized I was working too many hrs. We go back for fall semester August 18 and I'm dropping my hrs at work to 2 days/week. Summer school was really intense with all the hrs I was working. Looking forward to the next 4 semesters. Good luck in your schooling!

Specializes in restorative.

I went back to school at 37 for LPN. I was a dental assistant for 15 years prior. I now have my first year working as LPN under my belt and am continuing to re-take my pre-reqs as they got too old. After that I will be continuing on to the bridge to RN.

I dont mind if you bounce questions off me, just be warned it may take a day or two to get back to you.

A question for you or anyone else reading this- have you heard of anyone who has survived the LPN to RN/BSN online bridge?

Glad to see i am not the only nervous student. I worked a ton this summer too to get money for school and living while i am in school.

People have survived it i just don't know any of them. I got friend i work with who is just about done with her BSN. Very smart and nice lady. She may go on to be a Nurse Practitioner she isn't sure at this point.

Thanks though. It is good to know others who are bout my age have been successful. I just hope and pray i am. Funny thing is with all my pre reqs i worked full time plus a second part time job and i took a class a semester. I figure i have flipped it the opposite. Now i will be in school full time and working part/part time the first 5 weeks, then hopefully once it eases up to class a couple of days a week and clinical's once a week and the other 2X's a week i can go back to a light part time schedule with my focus on school not work.
