Nursing Students LPN-RN

Any one in this program? I am looking it to it as it is the cheapest option I have found... Seems a lot like excelsior with the exception on clinicals (how do they do them?)????

Specializes in none.

Can't wait till they post their new start dates! In the meantime I'm doing the pre-reqs they require at A&M. For the current students how is it so far?

Hello,

I am a student at Lamar. I actually just failed 2514. I actually don't understand what I did wrong, but obviously it was something. I am going to attempt to take the class again in June. Is there anyone who can help me with study habits. The instructor stated to concentrate on ADPIE and I did, but maybe I did not concentrate hard enough. Any help or tips is greatly appreciated.

Hello, do anyone have the book; Intro to Professional Nursing and Virtual Excursion clinical? And would sell it? I have a friend in need of it. You can email her: [email protected]. Thanks.

good luck everyone! I have been through Lamar program and I promise you, it is doable....let me know if anyone needs any [email protected]

I just now saw your post, Thank you for writing . Can you tell me How the clinical 's work? How many days a week? What do you have to do? Is it like when we were nursing students and we followed a Nurse around? I know it is for 5 weeks, Did you work while you did your clinical's?My email is [email protected] would love to hear from you again. I guess you are done by now, awesome. How does it feel? R u going to graduation?

I'm not sure who you were asking but I'll answer some of your questions. I'm one week away from finishing my last set of clinicals. Clinicals are divided into two 5 weeks sessions. So you have a total of 10 weeks of clinical. There isn't a set number of days a week you have to do, you just have to complete your 108 hours/per 5 weeks. You also must complete 8 hours of community volunteering per each 5 weeks. You have a preceptor that you are with and that person will supervise you and sign you hours log each day. I continued to work 24 hours a week and most weeks had 3 days of clinical. It is very doable.

Hi horse24, I completed the program at Lamar also and I have some friends that just started in Jan. I believe, like you, it's very doable. I was hard, but doable. I have been wanting to respond on this site for a long time, but haven't because I was in school and didn't have the time. I really hate that the program is getting a bad rep due to students not being able to pass Hesi or NCLEX. It's a great program for those like me who had to work while in school and who's pre-reqs were expired. I started off strong, struggled, then finished strong. Good luck to those in the program, and continue, don't give up, it's doable, I did.

Hi, I just took my boards on Monday the 29th and I am a graduate of Lamar State Port Arthur. My BFF took hers about three weeks ago and passed. There is another friend and co-worker that is in that last set of clinical. Lamar is real. Good luck to all. Katana600, RN

Hey katana600, I took my boards Jan 31st and passed. I am a graduate of Lamar State College Port Arthur also and I believe it was the best program for me. I just got my acceptance letter to SFA for the online RN-BSN program for the summer starting June 3, 2013. I applied to Lamar University also and am waiting to hear from them because I may go through Lamar again.

Yay congrats.. I have to take stats 1342 the first summer session and I will be applying to Texas Tech RN-BSN online program that will start January 2014 and finishes in May 2014. Good luck.

I applied to Texas Tech RN-BSN also, the process through Nursing CAS is so long. I'm waiting to hear from them also for the fall 2013 online program. I would prefer TT because their's is the shortest program. Good luck to you also!

I just finished up my second clinical rotation...what are the last two classes like? What should I expect?
