is transfering a good idea?

Nursing Students LPN-RN

Published

hi everyone i am really having trouble making this decision and wanted to know what u guys think...

I am currently a freshman at lehman college and was going for my RN there, but i noticed its hard to get in the program, so im thinking about transferring to Bronx Community college to get into LPN and then continue to RN? is it a good idea to leave lehman to go to a community college?

Feel free to post any comments about either Bcc or Lehman thanks.

Jessy-That is what I am doing right now. I am attending college doing my pre-reqs for the nursing program. But I applied to vocational school for the LPN program in order to get into the field quicker since the college has an at least 2 year wait. Not that I can wait that long but I really dont when I can get into the LPN program fall 2009 become an LPN in one year, work for a year or so then do the bridge program at the college i am already attending. But that's me.

You are still young, so waiting really would be such a big deal for you. It really depends on how long you want to wait before getting in the field. Look at all of the options, talk with a counselor at your college see what they have to say.

Hope this helps! good luck in whatever you do.

The pre-req courses should be similar. Take them wherever is convenient and cost effective for you, then apply to both programs.

Thanks jnc0713, i feel better that im not the only one that is undecided.

even though leaving a good 4 year college to a 2 year community college sounds dum, but its what meets my needs.

Jessy, but before you transfer, remember Bronx CC may have a waitlist as well.

Find out if they do and how long you may have to wait.

Good luck!
