Is a BSN-RN necessary?

  1. 0 I already have a B.S. degree but am considering making a career change to nursing. What are my best options for moving forward. Are there advantages of holding a BSN over an ASN or ADN? Or since I already have a bachelors would the ASN or ADN route be the best path for me to follow. Would this path allow for the same career opportunities?

Since you have a bachelors in another field, look into an accelerated BSN program. Many places prefer a BSN over an ADN. Check the SBON where you are, you can get good info that way.

I second that response. Get a BSN, hospitals are starting to not hire ASNs. Hospitals won't care about your other bachelor's degree.

I see you are in Colorado... You'll need a BSN for sure.
