How long did you wait to go back to school?

I'm just interested in some of your stories.. I completed the lpn program last July. I plan on starting school in August for my prerequisites. How long did you wait to go back to school? Did you continue working? I will still have to work full time. Did you have small children at home? This is what makes me most sad bc my kids are 6 & 1. I had my youngest 3 weeks before my pinning in the lpn program. Thanks all.

LVN licensed 2011, starting LVN-BSN program August 25, 2014. Working 45-hour weeks in home healthcare. Married with two young kids.

I know how you feel, I graduated and got my LPN in 2002, at the time was still single with no kids, and lived at home with dad. I'm starting Fortis Ins. in Oct 2014, and I'm also concerned about the time with my kids, i know have 2 kids (3 and 5). And the program I'm doing is like a LPN program, so I'll be going 4 days a week, plus have to work full-time two 16hour shifts every weekend. But I wont to do it while there younger.

You inspire me. I received my LPN license in 2005. My plan is to return to school early next year. My long term goal is to be a ARNP. I have worked in mental health for the last 6 years and can't imagine working in another area. So, I concerned about having to work in med surg at any length of time.

Graduated LPN school in August 1985, received license in 1986 (February). Enrolled in an online LPN-ASN program in August 2009. Received RN license in June 2010, and will receive the BSN the end of next week (August 17). Well actually, I finish the very last course in the program on the 17th. Actual degree conferral is in October. But the end of next week works for me, too!:D Looking at what I just wrote, it seems that August is my month. I wonder if next August means an MSN enrollment or an MSN graduation. Hmmmmm....stay tuned;)

I graduated from my LPN program in 2010 and I'm now enrolled in a bridge program and praying to be done May 2015. I didn't work in LPN school and that helped a lot. Now I work full time, married and have a second grader. It can be done. Hard work and dedication is key!!

I have been an LVN/LPN for 7.5 years. I hope to be in an LVN to RN program no later than January 2016. The Navy, getting my prereqs done, and finances are holding me back right now. :( It's been a long time coming and I am so ready! Totally obsessed with nursing school. I miss it!

I graduated from the LPN program July 18th. Just took the NCLEX yesterday. I was accepted into the RN program July 26th. My first day of class is August 18th. I had already completed all my general ed for the ADN program prior to the LPN program. I have 3 children. They are 11, 9, and 6. I also homeschool all three because it gives us the flexibility to travel and we all "study" together. It also helps us to have a lot more time with them than I would if they were in PS. We have lots of field trips and fun with other families and then I hit the books. For us it was easier for me to keep going rather than take a break because we are already used to this schedule and it works for us. I think the time to go back for everyone is unique and dependent on their circumstance. There were several of my classmates that were burned out and plan on taking a semester off.
