You are reading page 5 of Helene Fuld College of Nursing

I did A&P and Nursing and worked five days a week. It's doable. If you have any specific questions, send me a private email.

Hello, I will be graduating from Eastern Suffolk BOCES Nursing program in July & I would like to go straight into the Helene Fuld Nursing program in Harlem. However I got an 84 in one of my classes but im doing great in all of my other classes (all 90's). Does anyone know if I would still be able to get straight into Helene Fuld without waiting a year with those grades??

Sorry, but they are VERY particular about the 85. 84.5 won't even get you in without the one year. I know from experience. However, you build on your experience from working as a LPN in HF. Trust me, I KNOW. I'm a current HF student. You can PM me if you like.

Specializes in taking a break from inpatient psychiatric nursing.

Is there any truth to the rumor that Professor Greene failed 69 out of 80 students last term?

Specializes in OR, GYN, Psychiatry, Addiction.

No teacher fails u...u have to study and pass your exams...there is lots of info to cover in a small amount of time...

@akanini

Did you do the SCI 101 Selected topics on math...inorganic chem...etc course?

It costs $1,355 (books & course fee). I would like to get the challenge test instead for $200

to save money.

Any info on the book that was used or topics would be appreciated.

Hi I'm applying to Helene Fuld for spring 2012. I have 1 year Lpn experience. I have nearly all my pre-requisites done, but I will be transferring credits from 2 different community colleges, one gpa is a 2.37 from 5 years ago, and I currently have a 3.2 gpa. Do I have a chance of getting in?

:nurse:The science 101 given at HF consist of three sciences--general, organic and biochemistry. If you are strong in these courses you may challenge the test, if not it is best to do the course. The course also includes medication dosage and calculations. If you never had general chemistry it is best to apply to a community college and try to do at least a year of chemistry classes. If you had high school chemistry you may do well in this class, because you need to understand the concept. It is a fast paced course that is five weeks of math and five weeks of science. Be forwarned do not delude yourself and waste your money if you have no chemistry knowledge. The school will accept A&P courses that have a C or C-plus that was done in recent years. Get specific information from the college before you start the program so you dont get disappointed. The course have to be recognized as A&P not any other name. The A&P courses given at HF is broken down into three classes not two as traditional fifteen weeks colleges. The science teachers are great (that is what i was told by several students). This school is actually a self taught method--meaning you have to read your books. The instructors at the beginning of the class hand out a syllabus of the course and it is up to you (the student) to keep up with your reading before classes. By doing this, whenever the teachers gives the lecture you will have an idea what he/she is talking about. You definately have to make the time to read and study whether it is twelve, eighteen or twenty-four months that you plan on completing the course. Good luck to all and have a positive attitude. Remember you are there to learn, and when you are in a clinical setting always inform your teacher about any procedure before you do them unless you ha,:redbeathe:yeah::heartbeatve permission ahead of time. Dont be a know-it-all, remember you are a student. Ask questions if you dont know and read, read, read upon clinical assignments before you get there. HFis a good school you just have to be realistic and willing to invest the time and energy into getting your education.

cyncare4u......U need a C+ to transfer AnP into Helene. Also you did a great job breaking down everything else. THUMBS UP!!

@ akanini

Received your PM thank you for the info. Can't send PM yet cause I haven't done 15 posts. Sorry it took me long to respond, I was busy preparing for the NCLEX-PN.

I will be getting that book from amazon. And I'm also planning to CLEP three of the subjects. By any chance you know of the minimum CLEP score that HF requires? I'm planning to go next year, cause my priority right now is job hunting. But I want to prepare and do some reading.

@cyncare4u

Thank you very much for the detailed information with regards to Science101.

You need to get a 50 or higher on the CLEP exams.
