ELAC LVN to RN program information

Nursing Students LPN-RN

Published

Hey guys!

So I am currently an LVN and just got accepted to the RN program at ELAC. I work full time and will be starting the program in January 2013, the qestion I have is can someone give me some insight into the program, the schedule, hours, days. I need to work while in school and want to get some idea what my schedule will consist off, so I can give my employer an idea of how may days I can work while in school.

Thanks in advance!

I am not sure how the program at ELAC is but I'm a first semester student in the RN program at LACC and I imagine that it must be pretty similar. Most people will tell you that it is really hard to hold a job and be in nursing school and this is very true, but not impossible. I'm working fulltime, however my employer is very flexible with my hours. This has to be the case for you if you intend to work. Currently, I spend Mondays from 8am-5pm at school, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 6am-3pm in clinicals, and some hours of Thursdays and Friday mornings doing online work, reading, and skills time. My work schedule consists of working 4 hours in the evenings, except full days on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Generally, I'm off from work and school on Sundays. It's not easy but it's doable if you have support, which I hope you do. Best of luck with school and everything!

Thank you very much for the reply! I didnt realize clinicals are started within the first semester. Well then... I guess I might need to leave my current postion which would suck because I am truly happy here. Does the school provide lots of information about hours and days during orientation?
