Chances of getting in RN (BScN) in Ont

Nursing Students LPN-RN

I'm currently in the 4th semester of the RPN program at Conestoga. I want to eventually specialize so my goal is to complete the BScN program within the next 3 years, (I enjoy the role of the RPN so if the best way to get into the RN program is to work for a few years as an RPN I will do that). If I apply now do I have good chance of getting accepted into MacMaster's/Conestoga's ptogram or any other BScN program?

My marks are 1st semester: 79-92 and a 70 in prof comm, 73 in patho-physiology & a 75, 2nd semester: 77-92, & 74 in patho-physiology, 3rd semester: 82-92 & a 78 in patho-physiology.

You can't apply to a bridging program until you have graduated and passed the CPRNE.So you will have one more semester and then you have to get your license. Then you can apply. Bridging programs are 3 years. What do you want to specialize in? It is possible to specialize as an RPN depending on what area you want to go into.

Thanks for the reply. I want to specialize in wound care. My understanding is that I can't apply until June, after I've (fingers crossed) passed the CPNRE, meaning I could start in Jan 2015 (if thats possible) or work for a year and apply for the Sept 2015 start, yes? Or is there any way to go straight into the BScN bridge in Sept 2014?

That would depend on the deadline for applying. You would need to have the RPN license before you could apply. You could look into deadline and see what they say.

Thanks for your help. I was able to talk to someone from school today and just so anyone else looking at this knows,

if you want to apply to the BScN bridge program straight after graduating as an RPN you can apply by (Feb 1st). If you get accepted its based on the condition that you pass the CPNRE and 4th semester courses.

Thanks for your post. I learn something new every day.

Last year the cut off average was about 85%, it also looks like they opened up more spots for this years group as well. I think last year accepted 48 students and this year it has increased to 60 spots.

Best of luck.
