February 13th I found out that I was accepted into the LPN program! This has been my dream for a long time and is especially close to my :heartbeat because I had to drop the RN program a couple years back due to work. My boyfriend (of 4 years), is very supportive of me becoming a :nurse: and was going to work and pay the bills while I went to school. I start May 4th! However, Saturday he lost his job  :bluecry1: :crying2:. Now I don't know what to do. I work be even working full time I would not make enough to pay :twocents: all the bills. I am really discouraged. I still am going to go to school. I just don't know why this happened to me. I guess I would rather it happen now then in the middle of school. Maybe he can find a job before I start! Please pray for us! I want this soooooooooo bad!

Oh that is terrible!! I'm sorry to hear that.. times are definately tough. I would check in with your schools financial aid office and see what they can do to help. Maybe you could get some kind of grant that you wouldn't have to repay?

I really feel for you. THis is my biggest fear, as I near my start date in June. I fear we wont have enough or we wont get enough work. Hopefully he can get unemployement. You could try cutting expenses everywhere, and maybe live with your family for a while...anything to get through. Also maybe consider starting in a few months if this is possible for your program. That way you can save up---thats what I am doing....good luck. Things will work out, but dont give up.

This is how life is. i no sooner utter the word save and my car breaks down. when it rains it pours, you really just have to buckle down and minimize your life and expenses, i mean drastically, rent a room and buy a crap car. do what you have to do.

ive been in school since august and in that time DH has had a heart attack and his job doesnt have much overtime, but weve managed, even with a mortgage and carpayment. it can be done.

Go to your school's financial aid office, and see what's available. You should be able to fund the bulk of your education with grants and scholarships. Cover what's left with student loans.

In any case do not give up on school.

No way would I let this stop me from starting school. In the end it will be such a good thing for your future. If he were my boyfriend he would need to get a job, any job, asap. Good luck.

I feel for you hun. I had to make some major sacrifices in order to go to school. I gave up my whole life pretty much, but I'm just thankful that I was in a position to do so. I love nursing school, and to be a nurse is my ultimate goal in life, as I know it is for most people on this board. Don't let this stop you from pursuing your dreams. If anything, try to look at this as even more motivation to get through school. What I keep telling myself, once I'm a nurse, I won't typically have to worry about getting laid off. Nursing shortage is good for something, at least.

I hope everything works out for you.

I feel your pain. My husband was "temporarily" laid off on Jan 25 and I lost my job last July. I am still going to school. I would give up just about anything to finish. Fingers and toes are crossed for all of us.

DON'T give up! It can be done! Maybe it wont happen excactly as you had originally planned, but really, when in life does that happen anyway? I wish you luck.
