What is abnormal "guarding"?
- 0Sep 6, '12 by garnetgirl29ATI says that guarding is an abnormal finding after a colonoscopy that could indicate a bowel perforation & should be reported immediately. So, is this "guarding" more extreme that you would expect a post-op patient to be? I would expect a post-op patient to be protective of their surgical area, so I want to know how to spot the "abnormal" finding.
I was doing some ATI nclex practice questions and need a little more clarification on this one.
