Trying to decide

Nursing Students LPN/LVN Students

Published

Hi,

I am new to this board and loving it I might add. Anyway, I am having a difficult time trying to decide what to do as far as school is concerned. I had been taking all my pre-reqs to become an RN. I live in MA and attended a community college. 3 yrs. ago, I had to stop going to school because my now 4 yr. old was diagnosed with autism. Long story short, he is now in a full day preschool program and I am itching to get back to school. My concern is this. I have now found out that I have to repeat A/P and still have to take 3 other classes before applying to the RN program....if I even get in....should I keep plugging on towards the RN program or should I take the LPN program, be done in a year and have alot better chance at acceptance into the RN program in the future??? I have to add that my age is a factor as well...I am 45. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much....

Hi,

From what you have said it sounds like the LPN would be a great route for you unless you are currently making more money with your present job. I'd also fight to have them take my A&P even if it is older than what they want as all things with academia are negoitable, lol.
