I am currently in school to be a LPN and you guys are scaring me. I dont graduate until March of 08 but I am already scared of the N-Clex. What type of material does it cover. Is it like the PSB or it does it only cover nursing situations. What is the pass/fail percentage for the test? Any insight would be helpful.
They can ask you anything that was covered during your year in LPN school. ANYTHING. It only covers nursing situations, of course, but it involves critical thinking. Not all questions are that direct...you may have to think them through. I don't know what the PSB is, but, anything in NCLEX-PN or RN is game. Of course, one would be afraid of the unknown. For NCLEX-PN, it seems to be that if you did well during school, then, NCLEX should be doable. I found that mine was exceptionally difficult as I got further, but, I always studied deeply, so, I guess I thought it through. I thought that I failed when I walked out of there, but I passed. At this time, I would concentrate on one exam at a time and worry about NCLEX when you get there...because you have to pass the program to be eligible to sit for the boards, so, keep walking the yellow brick road until you can get where you need to be. Good luck!

Let me apologise to the original poster if I was too blunt or shed a negative light. We have all been there while waiting for results for NCLEX and I wish you the best in your new career!

Mine shut off at 75 and while initially I was relieved, the panic then set in and I thought for sure that I failed. I didn't..thank goodness. I know some people who had to endure the whole thing and passed and then some in between. You will do fine. Afterall, you have been practicing for the past two years everytime you took a test in school! Some may agree or not, because of this, I did not hit the questions too hard before my NCLEX. I felt that I either knew it or not!! Would you not agree that there is no amount of preparation for that test? A lot of it was test taking skills combined with your knowledge.

i took the nclex on jan18,2007 and got my results in 2 days. I really thought i had failed. there were drugs that i had never heard of before. the computer shut off at 130 , classmate computer cut off at 85 and she did not pass but others cut off at 85 and they pass. so good luck.

i just took my nclex 2day. i stopped @ 85. I rilly studied for this test but when i got in the testing center i couldnt remember anything that i've studied. totally i had some easy questions that can't even answer it. I had 8-10 meds. no calculation. some of the hard ones can't even remember what are those. I heard that if u keep getting easy questions that means your not getting it right. they said that in testing center theyll give u hint if you passed or not. what are those hints. i didn't get it. my gosh i don't know what will i say or do when i'm out with my friends and family. i don't even want to go out in my room. answer my fon. ahhhhhhh i'm getting sick. i couldn't thnk straight.... my gosh i'm rilly worried. i just drunk some wine to fall sleep. oh by the way i'm from california so i have to wait for couple weeks to get my result.
i took my test on 1-17-06 and was physically ill when i came out. i was convinced that i had failed. i made it all the way thru school with an A average but i felt like i second guessed myself on all the critical thinking questions. my test cut off at 85 but all i thought about was everything i read that it doesn't matter. it was a long week getting my results and when i found out i had a license they tell me at work that i was a different person. i know i was hard to live with at home...my poor husband and 6 year old had to deal with that. i thank the Lord for getting me thru the program, working full time and taking care of family. i am sure you did fine but i know how nerve wracking it is.

I would agree--there is really no way to prepare for the test. It was either that you knew it or you didn't or had to have good test taking skills. There were many things I didn't know or even heard of...especially the meds. I remember using Kaplan's NCLEX-PN stratedgy book and that was what I used when I really didn't know.

I took my nclex-pn 2day and I am very scared. That was the most difficult test I've ever taken. I saw drugs that looked like they were invented just to put on my exam. I am afraid that maybe I should have taken a break. I will find out my results on Fri. one way or another. I studied my heart and brain out. I took every practice test in every book I found and read all the rationales. Even the ones I got right. This was a very humbling experience, and if I passed I will definitely not walk around with my chest poked out saying I finished nursing school and I passed my boards to everyone I meet. If I did pass it was the Lord that came through and not my wonderful expanse of knowlege. The best of luck to you! I will keep praying and I will mention all here who are in the same boat.
