When I was in my LPN program, school was Mon-Thurs. I made sure no matter how tired I was to workout at least four days a week (thursday-sunday). During the week if classmates would go out to lunch I wouldn't go with them and brought food from home. I worked out just fine for me.

Remember, working out increases the blood flow to the brain, allowing you to study harder/smarter and be able to remember.

I'm a runner so I try to get in 15-20 miles a week, minimum. I also grab my flashcards and study while I'm walking my dog.

sooo true. Even brisk walking for 20 minutes helps relieve stress, increase blood flow to the brain, and release endorphins

I am a runner, also- in my 2nd semester of my LPN program. I consistently run 15-20 miles/wk, sometimes more if my stress level goes up. I ran my first half marathon in my first semester of LPN school. It was kind of crazy, but the feeling of accomplishment was worth it! I am a single mom of three sons, so it seems ironic that I find more time to run during the semester than I did on summer break. It's easy enough to pack up my running gear, and hit the road for a 70 min, 7 mile run between lecture or lab and studying. I have also found a nice little spot in the trees, by a creek, to do some sit-ups and talk to God. Prayer and exercise are a winning combo! It also increases the circulation in my brain... I have noticed when I don't take the time to run I have increased difficulty concentrating. Exercise while taking 17 units is a must, and I wouldn't have it any other way! I'm considering signing up for my second half marathon during my second semester. I know it seems difficult to justify taking the time off from the books, but trust me it is WELL worth it!

Way to GO on the half marathon!!!
I'm entering finals next week...9/17. I too am in a LVN program M-Th, I try to go walking 5 evenings a week/30 minutes with my husband but I've felt so tired lately from studying and being stressed out, I haven't been sticking to it. I know if I did just make a bigger effort, it would help!! Not only for me physically but mentally/spritually too!! Just reading this thread encourages me to make a better effort tonight!!

This is awesome advice I've been off the exercise circuit since last year. With this thread maybe this week I'll get back into the swing I things.

I am a runner too, and have my third half coming up in LV! I was benched for abit, but starting my training officially tomorrow! Running is a great stress relief for me, and keeps me sane. It is also much cheaper than therapy! LOL!
