.... yesterday i had a disagreement with my teacher about how she treats certain students like their the devils child and how she lets others get away with murder: come late, eating basically a full course DURING class, have their own personal conversations during class, etc...we weren't yelling at each other though nor being disrespectful towards each other. but we're in front of the whole class. i wasnt going to say any names but she kept egging me on to say who. so i named the girls she seems to be so mesmerized by and she just stayed shut cuz she knew exactly what i was talking about. she just didnt think that i would call her out in front of everybody. i dont know why because everybody sees it.. but now today as soon as i get to school and they tell me that i have to leave - no discussion, no being able to state my case on the matter. they just call me in tell me i have 10min to get off the property and the only time, if any, i have to state my case is on tuesday and i better "choose my words wisely" - put simply they're kicking me out of school! what kinda bs is that.. :angryfire if i get kicked out cause of this.....

Well, you shouldn't have done that in front of the whole class. If it makes you feel any better the instructor was wrong for not telling you to see her after class with your concerns. But you will still be the one to pay the price for this little scene, whether or not you are allowed to stay in school. You need to spend your holiday weekend practicing up on your humility skills or you definitely will be out. Might be out no matter what.

We musn't ever challenge those in power, right or wrong, seems to be how a lot of nursing schools work. Hope they don't kick you out.

I went to class, and clinical and did what I needed to do. No the instructors have no right treated other students any better than the others, but you never, ever, ever confront a teacher in front of anyone. I say you go eat some humble pie, my school would have kicked anyone out that did this. I know you meant well, but did you ever think that this might hurt your reputation. If you do get through this, I am sorry to say you are already labled. I have seen this happen, and we lost alot of students once they were marked. Good Luck to you, next time think before you act.

All I can say is I hope you are a first semester student. That way, you can try pleading insanity, and if that doesn't work, you have only wasted one semester.

At first I was thinking "The school is so wrong!" but then I realized you did this in front of the class....:nono: This should have been done in private if done at all. What you did was very unprofessional. What if you were a nurse had done this to your charge nurse in the nurses station in front of patients...you would be fired...

You have just learned a hard lesson that will serve you well for the rest of your life which is:

Do not challenge/confront people in public. When you do this you allow them no room for maneuver or a dignified response. They will come out fighting and you will not get the result you want.

Also, shouting matches (raised voices) are considered violent behaviour. When you go in DO NOT sit and continue to point the finger at this instructor -- it will not serve you. If you think you are going to lose your temper write down exactly what you want to say so you do not deviate from it.

I have no doubt that there was some unfairness in the class but you must learn to choose your battles more carefully and, more important, you must choose the location carefully (no I do not mean wait by her car to confront her).

I know this is very upsetting for you because I have had a similar experience. Righteous anger is still anger. What will separate you from others is how you deal with conflict when it arises. I wish you luck.

Wow! I would plead temporary insanity and beg for their forgiveness!!

Now that is some funny stuff right there!

The sad thing about all of this, assuming you were justified in your complaint, is that the people that you claim were the recipients of unfair treatment, favorable or unfavorable, all attended class today and will be in class on Tuesday, while you are sweating it out. Probably no changes at all, except for your absence. You provided entertainment for your classmates, but that won't get you to graduation.

You should not have "called out" the instructor in the middle of class. There's a time and place for that, and you just gave them the tools necessary to say you disrupted the class which, in most programs, is technically grounds for dismissal. A haughty student who challenges the instructor during class is a far greater crime than the student who is breaking only the most minor of rules during class. No, it's not right, but what you did was beyond incorrect - it was unprofessional, and such a label gets you booted from most programs in a matter of seconds.

I would think the reason they asked you to leave was because your behavior was unprofessional. In my class the instructor never points out that someone is doing something against the class rules unless it is something really bad. She just silently marks you off for it and you are graded by that. No warnings, no ifs ands or buts. We are adults and should act like it and by all means if you disagree, do so in private and in a more humble way.
