My Year of Lpn School

Today we got another batch of the 350 words. So far everyone is in the same boat as me. We're all feeling overwelmed by the amount of material we have to cover but we're all going to pass this test! I come home and study for at least 3 hours yesterday and tonight. I try to take a break every hour to retain information. I also rewrite the words over and over and say the words out loud again and again. The instructor is really nice and helpful so hopefully I'm on the right track.

In our computer class we went over a few more things typically focusing on wordperfect and email. Like I said it's kind of basic but I did find out a few tips I didn't know before. Good thing about this class is...grades based soley on attendance!!! No test!

Well I'm going to study some more.

Well remember that big test I mentioned.....I GOT AN 94%!!!:dances::
This week has been nothing but med term words and computer class...I got an 100% in pc class. I got a 95% in med terminology today! And a good tip for med term is to study before your program even starts if you can...try buying a small med term dictionary and just reading over the terms. Trust me it helps!

Another thing I did was a buy a med/ surg book to look over some diseases so I won't be soo out of the loop when nursing foundations starts. And a nclex-pn study guide to help with those test questions!!!

Today we took our test and started Nursing Intro course. Alot of Florance Nightingale and her friends lol. It's pretty interesting to learn about holistic nursing and treating patients as a whole. Everything went great today but were off Monday for the holiday and we have a test Tuesday over the chapters we covered today! And we have another day of chapters on Wednesday and Thursday another test then off Friday as our free break day....then guess what? Another test on that following Monday...our final. Then the course is over and we start Foundations in nursing. I'm really ready for that class. It's where were we learn how to nurse and we start labs and procedures!!! We get to practice on each other.

The worst thing about the first few weeks are that is we don't make an 82% in class we get dropped automatically. Everyone passed med term and comp so far were a strong class! I just can't wait till we all walk down that stage and get pinned at graduation....because we will!

This is my second week of school and today was my second test. Its was the first quiz for Intro to Nursing and I made an 97%. I only missed one question. Now we seem to be getting into the nitty gritty and its pretty fun. All the nursing ethics and law. Our instructor said we should get student insurance but I'm not sure if I will but most likely I will go ahead and get it to cover me in case anything happens during clinicals.

Yesterday I did my volunteer work assignment at a local nursing home near my house. It was really fun. I was placed on the alzheimers unit with an LPN. I watched her do med pass and chart, and I got to help her keep the clients in line.They were all so busy and going all around. She explained to me about sundowners and that they are always this busy especially when it's time for bed. Haha. I think I could work at a nursing home but well see...
Well I have alot to study because I have another test the day after tomorrow on 8 chapters!!
