by Jazziepants Sep 8, '12My grandma called me Friday night saying she was dizzy and not feeling well. I went over right away. (Recently, she has had heart problems.)
When I got there I started an assessment. She was responsive and I knew she had a Doctor appointment on Thursday so I was asking about any new meds as I took her pulse.
My mom was standing with me and I realized her pulse was weak and only 35. I told her to call 911 and she was going to the hospital. As we were waiting I told my mom to gather my grandma's medicines as I did the rest of her vitals.
Finally, the paramedic showed up and K gave them the vitals I had gotten and her allergies, history, and sent the meds. We got to the hospital and saw the Doctor who shook my hand and preceded to tell me I did an awesome job and I am the reason my grandma is alive now.
She is still in the hospital but doing well. This was the first time I had to use my learnings in an actual situation. I am just so happy I am on this path and I know this is where I belong :-) just sharing.Last edit by Joe V on Sep 10, '12 : Reason: spacing
