by ALS SoCal Jun 25, '06Hello All,
So I sitting here working on my first care plan, and I am not having any trouble with the actual nursing diagnosis and potential, but the knowledge deficit is what's getting me. I am just not understanding. My intructor said an example would be that a non-amb. pt. is in a wheelchair, but wants to get up and walk. But my pt. is an alzheimers/CVA pt. and is in a Geri-Chair. Her speech is completely gone, but she doesn't seem to fight anything, exept having her vitals taken. She hates that! I am just looking for a better explanation of what I am looking for when it comes to "Knowledge Deficit"
TIA!

- Jun 25, '06 by lisalpn06My instructors always said that you can use the knowledge deficit diagnosis on pretty much every patient, because there is always something that they need educated on. The patient your instructor was talking about would need educated about why she couldn't get up and walk...b/c she is confined to a wheelchair. Hope that this makes sense!
