    can someone please help me to figure out this math problem? I'm normally good at these, but for some reason, the wording is tripping me up. here's the problem...

    "calculate the time required to give 500mL of NS at a maximum rate of 145mL/hr. please answer in whole hours and minutes."

    I'm not a nurse but I am a math teacher and you simply have to set this up as a proportion. After you solve the proportion you have to convert .44 to minutes which is approximately 27. Here's the proportion:

    500/n = 145/1
    145n = 500
    n = 3.45
    n = 3 hours and 27 minutes.
