LPN CERTIFICATE help

Students LPN/LVN Students

Hi I'm new to this site.

I attended a private school for an LPN program I think back in 2009-2010. I finished the program and was awarded with my LPN certificate. Long story short the owner of the school did not pay for the next class to be accredited. State did an investigation and did what they have to do. The owner is now in jail. The whole time I asked for my transcripts so I can take my nclex they said they sent it out. I waited trusted them and finally came to the school and found it was closed. Staff were nowhere to be found. My question is what can I do with my LPN certificate? It's been years I know. I have a stable job but now I'm in tough times and I need to pick up where I left off. Thanks in advance for any advice

Call your state board of education to see if your old transcripts are being retained somewhere. Typically, when a school closes, the state board of education maintains transcripts for former students and attendees. If the school offered a nursing program, your state's BON might retain some transcripts.

Essentially, an LPN certificate is useless without an LPN license. And you need this license to secure LPN employment. Good luck to you.

I called them earlier and they gave me a number for nj labor workforce. Maybe I can use the certificate and transcript to do a refresher course? Rather than taking the whole program again

Refresher courses require an valid nursing license. If the school was shut down by the BoN your PN diploma is likely just a piece of paper and will not grant you eligibility to take the NCLEX PN and obtain an LPN license. Contact NJBoN, but be prepared for the answer you likely need to repeat a course in practical nursing that is BoN & DoE approved. The NJ BoN minutes reflect a few schools that closed the students were to be notified that the school was on probation and if closed they would need to repeat the course at another school if deficiencies were not successfully corrected. Sadly I think this is your case. The statute of limitations likely has run out to take civil action against the school but if you had federal student loans for this course this is one of the extremely few times they may be forgiven. The school likely did not meet the minimum standards required by law to legally grant a practical nursing diploma and eligibility for NCLEX-PN/ licensing by NJBoN.

I paid cash for it no loans. What are some option do i have to help pay for an LPN or associates RN programs. I'm a new house owner with a good paying job. Which will not be the case if I go back to school because I have to cut my hours. So I'm worried about how to pay the cost of living.

File FAFSA and see what you are eligible for. Apply to county vocational or county college PN and county college associates programs in the county you legally live in. A 10 to12-month public PN program costs $5000-9500. Lowest cost for county residents, cost is county BoE dependent. Private PN programs can be $15,000-30,000 or more. If you have never used financial aid you may be eligible now. Start by contacting admissions and financial aide now

I've heard lpn is getting phased out? So most likely I might just do an rn program. And with night classes and take off during the day for clinicals. With fafsa what do they help you with? And yeah I never took out any student loans yet or any type of loans or grants

LPN has been allegedly been phasing out for over 20 years.

FAFSA isn't an entity it's the federal application for financial student aid. It's a form completed for the government and school to determine if eligible for financial aid. ( grants, loans, work study, etc)
