LPN boards while in school?

  1. Does anyone know if I can do this? I am about to be in my 3rd semester of clinicals for my ADN. Is there a certain point in the education that you can take the LPN boards? Thanks.

I think its up to the school. Some of them allow the students to sit for the LPN boards after the first year.

The RN program at my college allowed students to sit for NCLEX-PN after Pediatrics and Women's Health. There are a few that took advantage of that in order to earn better money and gain nursing experience while in school. They had one more semester afterwards...Med/Surg 2. Also, there are some that simply wanted the experience for sitting for NCLEX-they found it to be a bit less threatening than sitting for NCLEX-RN for the first time. I do hear that some schools don't offer that option, but check out your college. They have to submit in paperwork to the BON of your state saying that you are eligible for sitting for that exam. You can't just walk in and do it on your own. Best of luck in your RN program!
