I can't believe it, but the day has finally come! I start school tomorrow, Sept. 26:D Can anyone give me a heads up as to what I can expect to do on my first day? Any words of wisdom or advice for a newbie?

Thanks!

I know how you feel. My first day was Sept. 6th and I was so nervous and excited. We mainly just talked the first day and introduced ourselves, school expectations etc. But the next day we got right into Fundamentals of Nursing. We've had a tesk every week and its moving quickly. I take as many notes as I can and so far Ive gotten all A's. Good luck to us both :yeah:

Oh forgot to add what has been helping me. I'm a new student so I don't have a lot of advice, but what has helped me is

1. I read the chapters before class. That way when the teacher is lecturing, I can really focus on what she is saying. When you are constantly trying to right down every little thing, you dont take as much in. So I read chapters before class, and then while she is lecturing, I take down occasional notes, but I dont have to write down every little thing because Im familiar with what she is lecturing over.

2. I do my note cards while reading the chapters. My notecards consist of the bold words in each chapter, which are usually on the test, and some of the notes from the lecture.

3. I dont get involved in the gossip that I see around me. Im the complete opposite of how I used to be in middle/high school. I sit all the way in the front and I soak in all info as if I was a sponge.

So far this has helped me alot. We have already had 8 tests and Ive passed them all with nothing below a 96.

Goodluck soon to be nurse :nurse:

I start OCT 31st, but hope that you have a great first day! Make sure you sit up front and ask questions is the only advice I could give. All the best for continued success in your studies and future career.

:dncgcpd: hooray! congrats! i've been in school for a month and a half. keep up with the reading, it will save your butt. don't miss class. go to every lab. outline your chapters while reading. use study blue.com if you like flashcards. quizlet is good, too. and it's free. my college won't let me record, (hipaa) so if you can, record. anyway, good luck to both of us! have fun tomorrow! you will do fine!

My first day is tomorrow, too! Well, two days of orientation, then class officially starts on Wednesday. Good luck! :D
