    dose/have. for example, md orders lasix 40 mg po(this is the dose), what you have on hand is lasix 20 mg tablets, how many tablets are you going to adminster? to set up the the equation using dose/have it would look like:

    lasix 40 mg/lasix 20 mg---->40/20---->2 tablets. soo, your answer is going to be 2 tablets

    another example would be:

    md orders megace 400 mg po qd, what you have on hand is megace 40 mg/5 ml, how many mls are you going to give?

    dose/have----> (megace 400 mg/ megace 40 mg) x 5 mls---->400/40 x 5 mls---->
    10 x 5 mls----> 50 mls.

    hope this helps you out, im not to great at explaining things.

    Don't worry your post wasn't too long. I wish you good luck and hope that your clinicals go great today!!!:spin::spin::spin: yuo should be proud of yourself for getting your resident to eat more and drink her fluids, that's great and that just reminds you of why you wanted to become a nurse!!! That's why I want to become a nurse, to help people and make a difference!!! I am abut 4 weeks away from taking my first math class at my school-I will be taking to more math classes after this one, the one i will be taking in 4 weeks is basic math. Do you think that will help me to understand nursing math better? the next two math classes after basic math will be what my school calls Alegebra 1A and Alegebra 1B-I think that means Alegebra 1 & 2. I picked these math classes to refresh my memory and help me to understand nursing math better but it might be kind of hard because I will be taking them all online!!! If I have any problems with these classes or i get stuck on solving any problems or equations will you help me, if you can? I would really appreciate it

    I definitey wish you luck. really hope that you get in into the LVN program. Well, sorry that I have not replied; I've been soo busy with HW and studying for the ACT (American College Test). It's a test that evaluates how much you've learned from high school. The tests are not mandatory; but I want to go to college, so I have to take it. Everything was easy except the science portion. I hope I did good. Anyways, clinicals was a little harder for me this time around because I had a resident who likes to hit back. Yes, I got hit but I'm okay. I only had to deal with her for the week; so next week, it's another resident. Though, I must say, I felt so sorry for my resident becuase I bet you she is angry at the world; she likes to remain in control. So I'll let you know how clinicals go on Tuesday. Keep me posted okay....

    thank you for your support. You are too kind. I really appreciate it. Yes, I agree with you; I hope my resdient gets better too. Well, as the the ACT, I don't get my results until 5-7 wks later. I'll let you know as soon as I find out. As for clinicals, it went extremely well today. We were put in pairs to take care of one resident together. So, I was with one of my friends. It was excellent. We had my friend's resident and she was good. The resident was nice and very sweet. She was alert and oriented. That a good thing! All, I can say is that I can wait until Thursday becuase we go to clincials again. I love and I'm very passionate about my nursing, as you can probabaly tell! So how are you doing today? What classes are you taking now? You take care and I'll talk to you later. Keep me posted!!!
