by catzy5 May 11, '06For those of you already in an LPN/LVN school, how long did you have to wait to get in? I am applying in the fall for the spring semester but we have quite a number of applicants and only 12 spots and the RN program is even twice or tripple the wait. so I am just curious how long did you guys wait if it all?

- May 11, '06 by TashaLPN2006RN2012I applied in July/Aug and i started in December of last year...we didn't have a waiting list, but there are only two schools around here that offer LPN programs...the waiting for RN programs are anywhere from 3-4 quarters to 2 year waits!
- May 11, '06 by catzy5Quote from tashaLPN2006Ya thats how it is here too this is the only lpn program in my area I can't commute at this time with 3 small kids and child care issues. our Rn program doesn't have a wait but takes years to get into, there is one other school close by and they are on a wait its 3-4 years. Thats why I am doing the LPN program I have a 50% better chance at getting in, in the near future and there seems to be a lot of bridge programs for lvn-rn more so then just rn programs.I applied in July/Aug and i started in December of last year...we didn't have a waiting list, but there are only two schools around here that offer LPN programs...the waiting for RN programs are anywhere from 3-4 quarters to 2 year waits!
catherine - May 12, '06 by Tanzanite RNI applied very early in Feb , applications were due Nov 1st, and first round acceptance letters went out right before Christmas, (I think I got mine Dec 18th.) Others in my class got their acceptance letters in March and the third round got theirs a couple weeks before classes began in June.
So all in all I waited impatiently for 10 months
and boy did I ever jump and squeal with glee when I got that acceptance !
- May 12, '06 by luvmy2angelsI applied in Feb and got in for the sept class. When I graduated there was a 2 year waiting list. Glad i went when I did!!

For the program I am now in, I did not wait at all. It is a private school, so there was less of a list. I did attempt the community college LVN & RN programs. I applied 2 semesters (one year) and did not make the lottery selection. That is why I opted for the LVN program that I am in now. I hated having to pay so much money for it when the community college was quite inexpensive in comparison. However, I felt it would get me back to work sooner and should increase my chances of getting into a RN program in the future. Not only that, but it is an afternoon/evening program and it works really well with my family schedule.
Best of luck with your application and I hope you get a spot next Spring.
- May 15, '06 by Elektra6Decided I wanted to go to LPN school in April, tested in May, interviewed the following December, finally started the next May. It took about a year!
- May 17, '06 by TheCommuterI attended an expensive private school to avoid the wait. I applied in July and started school in September 2004, and completed the program in October 2005.
