This might be better suited in the student section, but I wanted some advice from LVN's.

I am a student vocational nurse who will graduate on the 17th of August and I am in desperate need of help writing a resume. I have been looking for jobs online (because I'm relocating after school) and they all require a resume to be submitted. I have NO nursing/medical experience and have limited other work experience. I don't really know what to put on my resume as far as experience or skills with nursing...basically I'm just clueless! :o

Any input would be much appreciated!

When I was about to graduate from LPN school, we had a class where we had to build our resume. The suggestion offered was that we can list the clinical rotations as experience. I copied the course outline and placed it there and added what other experiences I encountered such as fetal monitoring for OB, hanging piggybacks in med-surg, medication administration and such. Now, a year later, I have a great deal to add to my resume at this point. Bottom line is that it IS experience. Good luck!

Ok I see what you are saying. I was unsure whether or not I can say I have experience in doing those things that you mentioned as well as others. Since I have been in school for 1 year, am I able to say that I have 1 year of experience in those tasks? I appreciate the help, we have a chapter to go over about writing resumes, but I have already read it and I have to say, it's very short and doesn't help much! :uhoh21:

I had a break down of the dates of each semester and what I did for that semester. Bottom line is that it IS experience. Not much, I know, but you did something!! I would write a list of each of the skills I actually performed, or just the summary of the class description which, should include at least some of the things you did.

I graduated last May and also had resume writing as part of last semester class. In terms of "work experience" list your clinical rotations as a separate section above your other work experience. Be sure to list the tasks that you actually did. Good luck!
