It's never to late to return to school. You must be certain what your academic plan is. If your desire is to help people, then take the CNA course at your local community college. It's a beginning, and also a prerequisite for the LVN program. Do some research on the internet for LVN salary in your area. I think LVN's roughly make $18 to $22/hr. This is the profession I've elected and I'm due to start the program this summer. Good luck with your endeavours!.. oh.. also! Apply for financial aid! at fasfa.gov once you've enrolled into college!

there are cna classes but its in a different area and don't know my way there. is it actually easy finding a lvn job if i can't aford to move anwhere else

It's never too late to go to school, and don't let anything hold you back! Try Try and try again. I feel as though I have trouble retaining information, but i still continue on! I don't know about schools offered in Texas, BUT I do know that if they offer a LVN/ LPN program at a community college in your area; that all community colleges offer a disabilities program. In the diabilities program you can take a quick test, or get a letter from your primary care physician stating a alittle bit about your disabiliy to bring in. This test (or letter) will allow you to take the tests for your classes with a proctor, the proctor will allow you more time to take your tests. Never stop trying to achieve your goals!!

thanks :) i'll never give up i'll be enjoying helping people also. at least i have nothing to disturb so i can focus on studying.

that's fantastic !!

do i need to learn anymore courses?

I would suggest you consult with a counselor at your community college for the program you elect.

would it be wise to work as a cna if i work as a cna how do ppl do it work and school? isn't there times they open?

I get the impression that you are not a CNA? or registered at your local community college. Most colleges require that you complete the CNA course and be licensed before applying to the LVN program, also anatomy and physiology are prerequisites as well. So yes, I believe it would be beneficial to certify as a CNA. Working and going to school is never easy. I am about to begin my LVN summer semester and am trying to figure out how I can supplement my income with financial aid. So to research the internet. You'd be surprised how much information you can find just surfing websites. I would suggest consulting with your community college advisors. Get their catalog and Continuing Education literature. It was mentioned that the workforce commission/unemployment office can also help you. Look at your options and good luck!

I am 42 years old with a learning disability and pursuing my LVN. I am an honor student at my school and work as well as a Medical Assistant. I study my butt off to obtain the grades I have. It is not easy but doable. You are never to old to go back to school!

The LVN program is intense, but you just have to keep studying and seek out a tutor when needed. I encourage you to not allow a learning disablity label stop you from achieving your dreams. I was told in high school that I would never become a nurse and now I am 9 months away from graduating!

Best of luck to you!
