Hi I am new to the board but starting the LPN at Boces Northport NY, accelerated day program that begins in March. Looking for any recent grads to share how the program was/is.

Anyone that worked and managed to get thru the program?

How soon after can you take the boards?

How intense is the program, studying per night etc?

Any and all info would be GREATLY APPRECIATED =) Can email me at [email protected] as I am not that great at navigating the forums yet:uhoh3: Thanks and have a great weekend!!!:D

I am in the class now and will graduate in April.

Most people only work weekends.less then 20 hours a week.

We were told 1-2 months after.

We started 38 people and have 17 left in the class.

I study 2-6 hours a night

Thanks so much for your reply. Been looking for people that are in the program or have graduated the program.

you are almost at graduation!!! did the year go by quickly??

Anything you dislike about the program??

What do you like best??

What is the year like as far as holidays etc. is there any time off during the year??

Do the classroom hours ever go beyond 8-3??

Were you in college prior to this??

Some days it feels fast, other days it feels like forever

It would not be fair if I said what I don't like

What I like- Cinicals, Labs, Learning "nursing things"

Most teachers, how close I live

the freinds I made.

Class is 8:30-3:00

Clinical 8:00-3:15

We hardly ever stay till those tmes

Never been to collage- Graduated high school 1987

I plan to get my RN ASAP

Where do you live?? Is there any time off during the 13 months?

Do you know what schools offer for LPN to RN?

Will you work as an LPN while you school for RN??

What made you choose this route?

Where are some of the places you go for clinicals??

Do you wear uniform everyday for the 13 mos?

Thanks again:lol2:

You follow the Northport school calander, except you go to school in the summer & get a week off in Aug.

I live in Northort

Yes I plan to work as an LPN & go to school

You wear blue scrubs in the lab, White uniform in clinicals, & street clothing in class

Nursing Homes

St.Johnlands, & St Catherines & Gerwin(for Vents)

Hospitals

St. Catherines, Good Sam & Southside

I always wanted to be a Nurse. I felt this was th best way for me.

1st if I did not like it I would find out quickly

2nd there is a long waiting list for RN programs

Where do you live?

How many hours do you plan on working?

Why did you pick Boces?

How old are you? if that is ok to ask

Hi, Thanks for the info, greatly appreciate.

I live in East Islip so take me 30 min to get there.

I picked BOCES because I felt the same as you, that the wait and competition is alot more than LPN although I was surprised to see how many people apply and how many get in, quite competitive too. I am so excited I got accepted and same as you, always wanted to be a nurse. I went to college years ago for exercise science and worked in cardiac rehab for a few years then branched off to womens fitness. Went thru some of my own health issues and just kept feeling so so strong to go back for nursing so here i am:yeah:and ready to begin!!! Little nervous of the unexpected but so so so psyched to go down the path and get to LPN.

Do you love it??

Not sure with work yet.....20-25 hours a week I hope. Do you work? How old are you?

So with school starting March 16, do we have spring recess??

You said class is 8:30...the paperwork says 8:00???

How soon after starting do clinicals begin???

Whats your name?? I am Pauline:icon_roll
