ATI Testing

I am attending a school in New Jersey that has just required all graduating students to take an ATI exit exam. Has anyone ever heard of this? If so, is it tough?

We've had two ATI tests every semester and will have one right around our final this spring. They're a little out there, but they give us books to look at and prepare "in our spare time". :chuckle You are able to take an unprocotored version to make one up if you don't answer enough questions correctly. See if your school has codes for the practice exams ahead of time. You will get a gist of what to expect and it will also be good practice for the NCLEX. Good luck!

We had to take the ATI and most of us thought it was a waste of money. I didn't feel like it helped me pass boards. Unfortunitly, if the program you are in participates, then you'll have to make the most of it. Good luck!

I live in Manassas VA and go to ECPI - Medical Careers Institute for the LPN program and am in my 11th month of a 12 month program. We JUST took the ATI proctored test (two weeks ago) and apparently our whole class did poorly because we were forced to remediate and what not. Our ATI books weren't given to us until after we took the initial testing, and only the same day as taking to nonproctored test. Apparently, it is now a requirement that we pass this darn thing (it's counted as a final exam) for our Nursing Leadership Class which starts in two weeks, and is a five week course. Nur. Lead. is our last course and then we finish the program. Needless to say, our class is NOT happy. We were never informed (until today) about this ATI being required. Anyhow, I found it pointless because the questions are not NCLEX based questions (meaning the reading comprehension and such questions that the NCLEX based books have) so it ended up by confusing me..and I failed it miserably. Oh well. I guess i'll just continue to remediate

Yes our school Does a lot of ATI testing. I just took one the COmprenhensive where I had to score a 60% or higher. The national average is a 60% I scored a 62.2%. It was very difficult. doing the practice exams are nothing like doing the proctor test! IN our LPN program if you dont pass the 1st time you can take it again and if you pass that time you have to pay $20 everytime you take it until you pass. You cant graduate unless you do..

I am starting the LPN program at Medical Careers in Jan 05. How is the program. I have worked as a CNA for many years and I am aware at the work I will be asked to do, but I was just wondering what you thought about the program. I guess you will be graduating in Dec of this year and I want to wish you all the luck in your new career.

As any other nursing school goes, it is very confusing, and very stressful. However, the MCI campus that I attend is EXTREMELY disorganized. A lot of it is the fact that my class is teh first LPN class that they did here, and so we're sort of the guinea pigs. Another part of that is that the staff at the school I go to isn't ideal. I don't know how other MCIs are..but I have heard that they are a bit better...good luck at school! If you have any other questions be free to ask me!!

What ECPI do you attend? I am awaiting my acceptance into the June 2005 class in Raleigh, NC. This will be their 2nd class to go through the program in Raleigh. I havent been able to talk to any that are in the program now, but they seem happy. What kind of problems did you face?

Hey,

I go to the MCI in Virginia Beach. I am in the LPN program. I am just beginning my 5th mod. I wish you luck with getting accepted into the RN program. Each mod is 5 weeks long so it goes pretty quickly. Up to now we have had two classes per mod and during the third mod is when the clinicals begin, at least with the LPN class. The only problem is the teachers sometimes treating you like children. I am 34 years old and sometimes I think they forget that they are dealing with adults. I know they were having problems keeping teacher and we have a new DON now so it is getting better. Overall, I think the program is ok, just lots of information to take in with only 5 weeks to do it in. Again, Good Luck!:)

Well, you wont believe this, but I found out this morning that I got accepted!!! I am sooooooooo excited. Thats good to hear that it goes by fast and that it is broken into 5 week segments. Good luck you are almost half way there. Keep in touch and let me know how the ati testing is.

hi! hope you get in at the raleigh campus. I applied but could not work out the finances!(too rich to qualify for any help, to cash poor to pay!) Was basically my last chance. boohoo! Really looked like a good program to me. Was impressed with the director of the program.

If you can afford it, I think it is a great entrance into nursing. I believe any education is fundamentally what you put into it. If you apply yourself diligently, dig deeper than what is required, you will be a great nurse. You never arrive in nursing! It is ongoing education. Go for it! Don't get too old like me...

I am in NJ in somerset county and we use ATI as a ajunct to our schools program. What happens is in your tuition is the fee for the ATI tests. THere are 9 non-proctored tests you can do over and over again. THere are also tests for MEd-suge I and II A&P , peds,pharm,OB and psyce.

I used them before the finals and have done well in my couses (92.5 avg)

We also take the tests as a class (proctored) then get the results after the finals. THe tests are very hard I usually get from 70-80 on them yet in school I do much better. If you school is using the ATI tests for grades they need to be a bit more creative in testing you on what you a taught and what you need for the nclex.
