I never knew what burnout was until I found myself talking a little roughly with one of my residential clients when the client refused to leave the office. Now that I know how scary it can be to see a side of yourself that you never would have expected from yourself, how can I trust that working in an environment like LTC won't be a recipe for burnout and potential neglect of patients? I don't want to work for patients if I am unable to give them the utmost respect and dignity. How can I deal with this fear of my own potential for being the burnout nurse who neglects her patients? I am just a student right now, but I can see already that LTC is filled with burnout and abuse/neglect by both CNA's and LPN's...
