Well I live in new york i was working as a MA and now just past my state board and am a lpn. The pay range in nyc is higher in nursing home for lpn. We do not always work under the supervision of RN's they do work as supervisors in nursing home and it is easier to find a job there than in a hospital setting. It is not imposible however if you really look you will find. Starting pay 24-27 dollars an hour. I have friends who graduated RN and they are having a harder time then the lpns finding a job I have friends that got their license a couple of weeks ago that are already working in a hospital setting while the RN group are complaining that the hospitals want people with at least 1-2 years experience. So you see it all depends.

I live in Manhattan and most jobs available are in nursing homes however there are some hospitals that are hiring lpn's.. but expect higher salaries in nursing home settings.

glad to meet you both pagandeva and engy!!

We have acouple of residents who are from Queens who were in Willow Brook a long time ago.....

we also have alot of clients who come up to our hunting preserve......(our personal business)...from queens and manhattan......you are about 7hrs away.....but it still nice to meet you both!!

our hospitals are still hiring LPNS..though they always threaten not to.......they are private run and pay for an LPN is 12 to start.......most CNAs who have worked for this one hospital for years make more than a new LPN......I work for the state and you can not beat the benefits.......plus this is my first job as a LPN.......only been one for a lil over a yr......was a stay at home mom for 20yrs before that......as of july i am a new gramma.......nothing like it!
