I'm just weighing my options right now, and it seems like the fastest route to RN for me is to get my LPN, work for a bit, and then fast track to RN. As a single mom, ideally I'd like to work while in RN school. What kind of jobs can you get as an LPN. Are you pretty much stuck with LTC or a Dr.'s office?

I am from California and have been submitting my app and resume everywhere! The responses I have been recieving from hospitals is that they want 6 mo to 1 yr exp in Southern California area, and the pay is low in hospitals. I have tried SNF's and no responses. Luckily I was just hired at an awesome assisted living facility and the pay is good, the hours are great and the work is no stress. If you want to do more of the clinical aspect of nursing, hospitals are the best bet. I have heard too many horror stories about SNF's. I chose to accept this position because I plan on working in case management. I know that corrections has the best benefits and high pay if you want to go that route. The hiring process takes a couple of months.
