Wearing scrubs to go and fill out applications??

Wearing scrubs to go and fill out applications??


Do you think this is appropriate? Just wondering.. it is not an acutal interview I am just going around from place to place to fill out applications and do not feel like getting all dressed up until they call back for an interview.. Just wondering if anyone else has done this or should I just dress up anyway.. thanks in advance for the replies!!

I have done that but only because they knew I was in school, working as a unit secretary at a local hospital, and they wanted me to come right in and interview. So they were aware I would be dressed like that. Like you though, I would be tempted to wear scrubs to just go pick up an application because it is a health care setting, and MOST people would not care, but unfortunately we are judged by appearance...so I would probably dress up.

I am not working nor am I in school.. But the reason I am wearing scrubs today is that I help with my husbands grandmother . She has early stages of Alzheimers and when I go to her house I wear my scrubs.. they are ironed and I am very neat in appearance..

Again, I personally don't see anything wront with it. For the actual interview I would probably dress appropriately, but it is a healthcare setting and everyone is dressed like that.

I think it's perfectly appropriate. I would dress differently for an interview, of course, but if you're just dropping by to leave/pick up an application I think it's fine. I landed my job wearing them (I pulled a ballsy move that I probably wouldn't recommend to anyone -- just showed up, asked what they had available and if the DON was around to speak to me).

When applying for nursing jobs I frequently arrive dressed in scrubs. If I don't wear scrubs I can usually be seen applying while dressed in casual jeans and a shirt.

Well since I'm in the minority, my opinion is probably outdated.

Anyway since picking up an application can result in an onsite interview sometimes I prefer to dress in business causual and then a business suit for scheduled interviews. I probably won't change how I do it but itsl good to know that scrubs are cool because they are my outfit of choice for sure!

I think it is appropriate and even expected if you came in scrubs to fill out an application. Where I live, many nurses have more than one job, and at times the only time they have to come for either an interview or to fill an application is during lunch or between jobs. I'd probably wear a nice dress uniform and make sure that my shoes and stockings are clean, because they may want to have an impression of how you may appear to the patients and visitors on the unit.

I agaree, we can both be outdated together. Appearances count for a lot and you never know who may see you. Dress up, business casual is perfectly appropriate. But scrubs look so scrungy, no matter how pressed out they are. Sorry, just my opinion!

Scrubs that have been worn should go into the laundry - period. I think wearing them anywhere besides home is kind of scuzzy. And if you're wearing them to work, what kind of things are you bringing in? This strikes me as kinda overcasual - like wearing sweatpants to the grocery store. When I see what kind of bodies people put in sweatpants and leave thehouse, it makes me want to rip my eyes out. The grocery store is ugly enough.
