How long have you been without the DON?

Sounds VERY stressful. Got any vacation time?

Just a thought. Have you stopped and thought just long enough to the contraints that the DON (or temporary DON) is working under? It's easy to try to speak up and offer resolutions to issues you work with everyday, but quite another to make them fit into the budget, and other constraints. Over the years, I have noticed budget issues are the biggest reason suggestons from well-meaning staff won't work.

The RN sitting in as your temp DON (or whatever it is s/he is doing) should at least say thanks for the suggestion, but it doesn't fit in the budget.

Sorry to hear you are having so much stress. It's not healthy for you are the people you work with.

We have only been without a DON for a few weeks but we were having serious issues while she was there. We don;t really have anyone sitting in her place temp which is another problem thats were the 3 RN's come into play.
