Starting pay for no experienced LVN in any states

Hi everyone!

I just want to get some information about the hourly pay for new grad or no experienced LVN. Any info for convalescent pay and hospital pay like kaiser. Thanks everyone!

yea i live in dfw.. and am bout to start school thanks for all the info.. im hoping pay will be at least 17.50 starting out .. i want to work at a childrens hospital like cooks.. or at jps.. does anyone know how much they pay?

Cooks only really hires LVNs in their clinics. JPS has clinic and few inpatient LVN openings at times but you probably will not make $17.50 starting base pay there. A few months ago I interviewed with them and they said about $17.50 for 2 years experience.

do you know any places in the dfw area that pays well for lvns.. well i also thought about jps because after a year theyll help pay for school and still let you work.. but yea so would a ltc facility or home health be better.. or where have you found that pays well

To be honest, it can be quite tough to get a LVN hospital job around DFW especially nowadays. First of all there are much fewer to choose from which means big competition and most hospitals prefer to hire LVNs with acute care experience. Now I don't want to discourage you, but this is the reality. Just check the hospital employment websites and you will see what I am saying. I'm not saying it's impossible, but you are more likely to find a job in LTC or rehab especially as a new grad. I wouldn't recommend doing home health until you have some experience it also seems clinics and offices freqently hire LVNs. Typically LTC and home health pay the most, then hospitals and offices/clinics. The long term care hospitals (LTACHs) typically use more LVNs so also look at places like Kindred and Healthsouth. However it NEVER hurts to apply and be persistant. Most hospitals and some employers offer some form of tuition reimbursement if you want to continue with your RN.

I live in Michigan, the hospital I work for doesnt hire LPN's but recently I heard of some graduates that started out at $23.00 and as soon as they passed their boards there pay went up to $26.00?? At the hospital I work for a new RN starts out making $26.00 But average pay for an LPN with no experience in MI is $22.00-$23.00 Of course LTC facilities and Travel Agencies pay more.

I am in MI too, where I live LPN's start out between 11.50-14.00 an hour.

LPN compensation differentials depends solely on the state or city you live in, exp., and educational background. So, I would suggest you go by the state or city you live in b/c I live in NYC and compensation can start @ $24 - $30 hourly. Also, hospitals do hire LPN's. If you would like to make up with earning more salary...y not have 2 separate jobs! U can wrk at LTC and then for a agency for 2 or 3 days. That's the wonderful thing about the nursing field you will have many options/
