Sick to my stomach from anxiety

Nurses LPN/LVN

I went into work at a Therapy/LTC facility yesterday 8/7/15 at 6pm to work a 12 hour shift only to find out I had been replaced by other workers. When I contacted my DON, she asked why I didn't call her back at 1230p when she called. I told her I was sleeping (I work 3rd) and didn't look at my phone until I got into the parking lot at work. With that being said, she told me over the phone that there was an allegation against me and that I was suspended until Monday when I needed to make an appointment with HR to talk about it and then go from there. I asked what the allegation was and she would not tell me. So, needless to say, I am at home this weekend, full of anxiety and stomach pain from the waiting and I have never ever been accused of anything in my 8 year nursing career. I live in Illinois, is this proper procedure?

Normal procedure for investigations does seem to include suspension of the involved individual until the investigation is completed. If you are absolved of the allegation, it is possible that you will be paid for the time. Best place to know for sure is within your employee handbook and the facility policies.
