Questions about Continuing Education Credits for LVN

Hello!

I'm a new LVN and I just completed my IV/Blood Withdrawal course. I received my certificate and it says I earned 36 hours of CEC. I remember a while ago attending this job fair with my school and we did these seminars which counted as as CEC hours as well.

My question is, how many hours do we have to do and how often do we have to do them? Also, who do we turn them in to? Do we ever receive notices in the mail letting us know when our hours are due as well as how many we've done? Does it vary by state?

Thank you in advance!

K

If you are a Cali LVN, your first renewal, two years from the date of your first license, is a freebie. No CEUs are due. Those that you have earned recently will not count. On your second renewal, you will need 30 CEUs completed during the two years prior to the renewal. You will give the info on the back of your renewal notice. All states have their own requirements.
