Question about Compact Licensure

Nurses LPN/LVN

Published

Hi I'm a newly licensed LVN in Texas and my friends and were a bit confused as to why I have a compact license and some of them don't.

If I go onto to Board of Nursing website and verify our licenses mine says Compact: Yes and theirs say no.

Just wondering if there was a reason for this.

Thanks - Sam

If you declare Texas as your primary state of residence when you applied for your license then you would granted the compact Texas LVN license. If your friends indicated another state as the primary state of residence then it would be single state. For example when I got my Colorado LPN license, It was single state because I indicated that California was my primary state even though I practiced in Colorado. That's usually how it works to my knowledge
