Pharmacology Cert from NAPNES

I was thinking of getting my pharm cert from NAPNES and was wondering what you all think about it. I know it would be beneficial, but I'm a little unsure about spending about $160 to obtain it. I was wondering if some of you who have it could tell me, if it has benenfited you at all in your job? have you been payed more? Do alot of places require it (like I have been hearing). I was just curious! Thanks!! =]

Loretap, we're gettin no love here! I don't think that many are certified with it. I know ALOT of LVN's and none of them have it. I dunno, I wish it was cheaper, because I for sure would get it, but not for $160, especially now!! Anyways, maybe we will get a reply......or not....

I had always wanted to know myself...did the Pharmacology Certification benefit anyone or give them an edge over anyone else who did not take it. It would be nice to get an answer.

I know this won't help but in the dark ages in 1972 when I graduated from PN school we had to take an additional Pharm course before we could pass meds.

I'd take a look at the course syllabus and evaluate it as to your needs.

Good luck, I'm in a battle to be allowed to take a refresher course vs the whole ding dang program over so any CE's will help I'm sure but are there other options?

Though I'm a pretty new nurse, I have had a couple jobs and looked into lots of positions, I have never been told that I needed any additional certification except perhaps IV certification in some acute/sub acute care facilities. I have considered getting the additional cerifications like in pharmacology, but I would use it more as just polish for my resume, don't think it is necessary but any additional education is a plus.

The only certifications that employers have expressed in any interest in when I have applied for work have been IV certification, ACLS, and PALS. We learned pharmacology in school, so I think that certification is redundant whereas it might have been useful for people in the past.
