Peak & Trough

I do not believe it is within the LPN's scope of practice (being IV certified) to obtain levels of Peak & Trough from a PICC line. I know it can be done peripherally. Has that changed recently?

Each and every state has very different scopes of LPN/LVN practice. I happen to practice in a state with a wide open scope of practice where LVNs are permitted to draw blood from a PICC line if they are certified in IV therapy with special emphasis on PICCs, midlines, and central lines.

Thank you the Commuter for your response back. Yes I have heard that in New Jersey, the LPN's are drawing blood from the PICC line. I wanted to know if others were doing the same.
